Akashitora, began her talk by introducing the theme “The Writer as a Peacemaker: Rotary in Peace Cultivation.” Moving deeper into her address, she spoke about how Rotary plays a critical role in promoting peace across the globe. As a Rotary Peace Fellow, she had experienced firsthand the values, training, and opportunities that Rotary provides to individuals who are committed to advancing peace and resolving conflicts. She emphasised that Rotary’s approach to peace is holistic—it involves education, dialogue, community development, humanitarian action, and empowering people to become agents of positive change.
